LEGO Watch 21/12/11

One Brick to Rule them all...
One Brick to find them...
One Brick to build them all
And in the shop, buy them
Hello There!
And welcome to LEGO Watch, I believe the name stands for itself, whenever I hear something interesting (not city) I will report it. The series will cover mostly star wars sets, or big ones.
Anyways LEGO has recently announced that they will release a Lord of the Rings theme. The first sets are due to come out June next year.
Sets:
Note: Set numbers and names are official, and so is everything written in bold, but everything else in the list below is an educated guess by me.
  • 9469 Gandalf Arrives: Well, this looks to me like a battlepack-ish kind of set, simply judging by the number of minifigs (2: Frodo Baggins, Gandalf) and the title. As for which scene this could be referencing, I would guess Gandalf's arrival in the shire as, though Gandalf arrives several times to different places no other figures are mentioned pointing at another scene. If this is so, I would expect a wagon of some sorts with a horse and full of fireworks for Gandalf to ride.
  • 9470 Shelob attacks:
    • Minifigs included: Frodo Baggins, Gollum, Samwise
    • Well, there is no doubt as to the fact that this is the scene from LOTR Book IV The Ring Goes East/The Film: Return of the King where Gollum leads Frodo and Sam into the pass above Minas Morgul which is the lair of spiderman's mutated wife: Shelob.
    • Lego has created several creatures both brick-built (sea creatures like sharks and crabs from Aqua Raiders) and molded ones (like the Tauntauns and dinosaurs) so I have no doubt that the set will include a brick-buildable Shelob. As for what else could be included, maybe something like a wall or part of the cave where she dwells, knowing Lego, it won't be a full cave or even anything complex :-(
  • 9471 Uruk-hai army | Featuring four orks of the White hand (Uruk-Hai) and Two Rohirim - A “rider” and "Soldier" (Maybe they mean someone from the Westfold Vallies)…
    • Did I mention that these sets have the most pathetic names? Ah, no, well, I'm saying it now.
    • Anyways, this also looks like a battle pack, but, LEGO usually puts only 4 figs into a pack, and anyway the horseman MUST come with a horse otherwise he'd be a horseless man...
  • 9472 Attack on weathertop: Obvious enough, the scene where Frodo gets wounded with a Morgul blade. Minifigs: Aragorn, Samwise, Frodo, and two Nasgul I guess Lego can spare us ruins of a tower on a baseplate, who knows, maybe even a new hill design, oh and of course, we must get two black horses.
  • 9473 Mines of Moria: I bet this’ll have that room with two doors with Balin’s tomb which the group has to defend. If fact, it would be interesting how much they include, speaking of which, the minifigures are as follows: Boromir, Cave Troll, Frodo, Gimli, Goblins (2), Legolas Skeleton (2)
  • 9474 Battle of Helm's Deep: This is the one I'd be most excited for, because you can't do it without making a wall and fortress, and besides it'll have Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Theoden and five Uruk-Hai
  • 9476 The Orc forge: The pits of Isenguard most likely, ewwwh *disgusted face* not my favourite
Other Possibilities
Something I'd love to see would be Minas Tirith in Lego, or maybe an ultimate collector's Helm's Deep with full fortress, bridge & walls :-) but the chances of that happening are less then 3720 : 1
And this'll wrap up the LEGO Watch for Wednesday 21st Dec 2011.

One Blog to rule them All,
One Blog to read at all,
And in the darkness... What? Oh yeah,
And Remember, The Force, and Commander Nikitikin, will be with you, always (as long as you read this blog that is...)
